My dear friend, Kathy Allan, is essentially a one-woman operation.  She owns and operates Kickapoo Rescue in Myakka,  a sanctuary for geriatric animals, giving them refuge for their golden years.  Her work is precious and from the heart.

This Thursday she'll be hosting her annual fundraiser at New College in Sarasota.  I'll be pouring the drinks behind the bar.  Hope you get a chance to come by. :)

Loved this article in the Bradenton Herald!!  Finally, it seems, a banking institution "gets" that we are CONSUMERS and they are SERVICE PROVIDERS. :)

Credit unions and smaller banks are, apparently, realizing charging customers more for using their service is not beneficial to their bottom line! :) 

“We needed to do something to help consumers who are under attack from behemoth national banks charging fees that just don’t make sense,” said Katie Pembles, Community Bank president. “People have a choice of where to bank, and at Community Bank, we thought paying people $5 per month rather than charging them $5 per month was a good way to set us apart.”

This is going to be such a great experience!!  Not only fun for the kids, but educational too!  Prospect Riding Center, an awesome therapeutic riding center, is having their Open House this Saturday from 9am to 2pm!  This organization is top notch.  They have a heart for children and adults with disabilities and believe horses are an awesome way to address these unique concerns.  Your children will have a blast on hayrides, playing games, and meeting the horses while observing compassion first hand.  I'm so excited for you to meet my friends at Prospect Riding Center!  See you Saturday!

On one flight, two passengers locked themselves in a bathroom.  On the other, it was one guy solo.  Both actions, however, resulted in fighter jets accompanying commercial flights to their destinations in "an abundance of caution" on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.  I understand the fear.  I think the "take away" from this is... pack Imodium! (travel size, of course).

Yes, I'm a Kyle Busch fan! (I know, I know... Rowdy haters can feel free to email me but I'll warn you... I'm forever #18! lol)  Anyway... apparently, 128mph in a 45 will get you a suspended license and 30 days community service in North Carolina.  Reckless?  Probably.. but to be fair, he was test driving a Lexus prototype that he only had for 24 hours.  You know he was gonna open that puppy up! lol
