No one ever believes me when I tell them I'm a real live Florida native. Yep, some of us aren't snowbirds!
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE to cook! My family is Cuban and Sicilian, so Latin and Italian foods are some of my favorites, but I love to try new recipes and dishes as often as I can... Got a recipe you think I should try? Send it to me!
Some of my other interests are baseball (Go Rays!), wine, eating (hey, it goes with the cooking!), music, travel, and Boston, my cat. I also LOVE zombie shows--The Walking Dead on AMC is one of my favorites, and I'm also into Breaking Bad, The Food Network, HGTV and The Travel Channel.
I was on the treadmill at the gym yesterday, and happened to notice this ridiculous story on the TV in front of me. It was so insane, I got on the computer and looked it up the second I got home to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. Nope, I saw right: New research says that eating egg yolks is as bad as smoking. Seriously.
Basically, the cholesterol in the yolk builds up in your arteries much the same way as heart disease caused by cigarette smoking. Or so they say. No offense to the smokers out there, but we all know smoking isn't exactly the healthiest thing you could do for yourself. And these researchers honestly expect us to believe that an item found in nature as a completely organic food source is as bad as a cigarette that contains nicotine and God only knows how many chemicals and additives? I'm no scientist, but that just doesn't add up. And for the record, I don't plan to stop eating eggs any time soon.
