No one ever believes me when I tell them I'm a real live Florida native. Yep, some of us aren't snowbirds!
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE to cook! My family is Cuban and Sicilian, so Latin and Italian foods are some of my favorites, but I love to try new recipes and dishes as often as I can... Got a recipe you think I should try? Send it to me!
Some of my other interests are baseball (Go Rays!), wine, eating (hey, it goes with the cooking!), music, travel, and Boston, my cat. I also LOVE zombie shows--The Walking Dead on AMC is one of my favorites, and I'm also into Breaking Bad, The Food Network, HGTV and The Travel Channel.

The average family in the US spends $150 a week on groceries. I can tell you that in my house, there are only 2 people (and a cat), and we spend almost that much per week...that's the price of cooking dinner every night, I guess. Anyway, the folks at ABC have put out a list of ways to save money on your grocieries! Read on:
1) Watch the register. There are an estimated $1 - 2.5 BILLION dollars in register errors every year! Pay attention to the prices of your items when you pick them up off the shelves, and look at your receipt! Most stores (like Publix) will fully refund the item if it rings up incorrectly, so keep an eye out to make sure you're not being accidentally overcharged!
2) Mobile coupon apps. Apps like Yowza are zip code specific, and will give you the rundown on deals in your area.
3) Avoid peak days and hours. I used to do all my grocery shopping on Sundays. Then, one day, I went to the grocery store on a Wednesday and noticed that a TON of stuff I normally buy was on sale! Discounts, 2-for-1 deals...you name it! Try to make a point to pop into the stores on a lower-volume day and see how much you can save!
4) Buy things in season. Buying food out of season will cost you. Want cirtus in August? Be prepared to pay more. For example, in Florida, cucumbers, eggplant, and avocado are in season in November, so grab some right now while they're cheap! You can easily Google in-season produce any time of year for tips.
5) Check the circular. Most grocery stores send out a circular with the Sunday paper, and also make it available to shoppers near the front of the store. Pick it up, see what's on sale, and plan your meals around what you can get for the lowest prices. Sometimes, grocery stores will even offer $5 or $10 dollar off coupons that you can apply to your total purchase. Score!
Bonus tip: Try not to be too brand-loyal. Name brands almost always cost more, and there are typically store brands products that are just as good. I know Publix make a BUNCH of great things, like cereal, pasta and sauces, laundry detergent and soaps...the list goes on and on. Try some of the off-brand items and I bet you won't even notice a difference. :)

It's no secret that Photoshop is used in just about every published image we see, but that knowledge somehow still doesn't keep so many women from feeling inadequate about their bodies when compared to models in magazines. This 37 second video is AMAZING, and shows the process of taking a regular-looking woman, and turning her into a tiny, polished image of "perfection." Ladies, DO NOT compare yourselves to the images you see in advertisements and magazines! Even the models don't look like that! Check this out!

I've never been a morning person. Sure, I get up and get dressed when the alarm goes off because, like most people, I have to get to work on time or risk losing my job. But if I'm being honest, I'd much rather start my day after noon, so I can sleep in, sip coffee, and pet my cat.
Apparently, my desire to sleep in every day is going to set me up for failure! Forbes put together a list of 5 habits that super successful people all do...BEFORE 8AM! According to the article, lots of successful people have these 5 things in common, whether they're CEOs, inventors, business owners, entertainers, politicians, or anything else you can imagine.
1) Exercise. Get active and get the blood flowing first thing in the morning, and you'll set yourself up for a great day. Plus, staying in shape not only makes you look good, but you'll feel better mentally and physically. And doing it before work gives you a boost of energy to get thru the rest of the day (endorphins, people!).
2) Eat a healthy breakfast. How many of us run out the door at the last minute with a cup of coffee in our hands? Skipping breakfast ruins your metabolism, AND doesn't allow your body to fuel up with the right amount of energy you need to stay alert during the day. Get up a couple minutes earlier, and eat something! Or, prepare an on-the-go breakfast the night before that you can grab on your way out the door.
3) Plan your day. Make a to-do list, and cross things off as you go. I know it sounds silly, but seeing the list get crossed off will actually motivate you to get more done! Yay, accomplishment!(ps--don't forget to schedule a lunch break!)
4) Visualization. It might sound silly, but try to mentally envision your day, and imagine yourself being successful in everything you do. Positive thinking can change your outlook, attitude, and the way you interact with people.
5) Do the hard stuff first. We've all been tempted to push a big project or difficult task to the bottom of the list, but procrastination will only make it more stressful. Get the hard stuff out of the way early, and you'll have the rest of your day (or week, or whatever) to tie up any loose ends. Doing this will make your day get easier as you go along, rather than harder!
